Anne of the Island (1915) is the third book in the Anne Shirley series by Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery. Anne Shirley leaves Green Gables for the first time to attend Redmond College. Gilbert Blythe, also a student at the college, proposes to her, but Anne is unsure if he is her true love. After graduating, Anne returns to Green Gables. Her friend Diana gives birth to their first child. In dramatic circumstances, Anne finally realizes the depth of her true feelings for Gilbert.
